The Mel Lindauer Eyes to the Future Scholarship Program was established by Dr. Mel Lindauer, a native of Eastern Washington, in honor of his father, Mel Lindauer Sr., who passed away in 2011.
Dr. Lindauer, an Optometric Physician and President of Optic One Eye Care Centers of Spokane, notes that his success was a direct result of the work ethic his father demonstrated while he was growing up. “My father was a hard working, honorable man,” explained Dr. Lindauer. “In addition to volunteering his time and being active in his community, he was a long-time teacher at Oroville High School, a Judge, and he served as an Immigration Officer. He led by example and was well respected. This scholarship program will honor my father’s memory by providing financial assistance to students who otherwise may have limited scholarship opportunities.”
